Tuffet workshops at 2012 festivals deemed a success!!

Welcome back to another winter of exciting blogs and feedback from all the lovely people I have met this year! It is official -  tuffet festival workshops are popular and fun! It has been a year of excitement and experiment, what works, what doesn't - what can be improved! Space has been an amazing challenge with every festival different - from the wonderful indoor space at  the Bristol Folk Festival at Colston Hall in Bristol where apprentice tuffetees ranged from 6yrs to 60+ all walking proudly away with their own mini tuffet to soothe the buttocks on the less than comfy festival chairs, to the van and gazebo arrangement at the Wessex Festival in Weymouth. with the harbour as the most beautiful backdrop. 'Brizzle' tuffetees suggested I start a comments book which I put into action and have been astounded by the wonderful comments from everyone - relaxing, time-out, fun, productive, and more comments are to be found on the Travelling Tuffeteer Facebook page - which if you haven't visited yet then please do and make a comment if you will!!
The biggest challenge of the year so far has to have been Grillstock where the skies emptied and emptied and emptied!! Great music - great rain! Keeping everything dry was very tricky and running festival workshops almost impossible although between the showers action began again! But it did not dampen the spirits of most!

The raffle of the festival tuffet was most successful, bad luck to all those that did not win but thanks for participating. Festival goers are invited to buy a raffle ticket for £2 and spend 10 minutes contributing to the making of this magnificent 5' tuffet!

Summer is here -albeit in serious disguise! Camping this summer may prove to be a chilly experience so what could be better than the natural thermal properties of a wool bed roll to protect you from the chilly nights and insulate  you and your sleeping bag from the rising damp of the groundsheet! Treat yourself to some well deserved comfort this summer!

In the morning when a little stretching  is required, a period of relaxation and meditation then the Talan sleeping roll can double up as the perfect exercise/meditation mat - giving support yet combining a truly organic connection to mother earth.

Budding  'tuffetees' have been busy in Devon and Dorset making their own Tam Tuffets in the  festival craft workshops at the Pennymoor Song and Ale fest and the Wessex Festival. The  natural craft workshops have been said to have brought a relaxing 'time-out' from the hub bub and fast pace of life! Young and old have enjoyed participating in this traditional craft creating their own tuffets from the choice of fleece available.

The absolutely best thing about making tuffets is that tuffets make you smile! Sitting on one, making one or just handling them on the stall - everyone smiles! Liam, above, bravely sat with older folk and worked really hard to create a woollen tuffet to be proud of, a brilliant moment of the festival. The biggest problem was holding dad back as he couldn't stop himself trying to help - definitely a 'wannabe tuffetee!'

Luxury Natural-Fibre Bedroll
Camping is the most wonderful natural experience, outdoors, nature, open fires, what could possibly be a downside? Nothing really.....if you are prepared for those cold damp nights. As the heat of the day is replaced with the beauty of the night sky so the condensation begins and as  the night draws to an end the beautiful morning dew refreshes mother earth all around us. It is then that the very cold of the night and early morning can seep into your soul and sleeping bag!! The new luxurious wool bed roll is the answer to this dilemma. Lightweight, natural insulation, deliciously sheepy and 100% organic.

This particular luxury bedroll is approx 5'  x 20" wide and is available at £75.00 (free postage)
Requests can be made for various colours and size (see tuffet stockroom for tuffet range) - price will be set according to requirements.
Please e.mail any queries to tuffets@hotmail.co.uk

Tuffet workshops at Bristol Folk Festival

Bristol Folk Festival proved to be a great experience for concert goers, musicians and apprentice 'tuffetees'!
Each night was headed with amazing bands, Saturday night Show of Hands, Sunday Cara Dillon and Monday night the Afro Celt Sound System - but that was not all by any means! Miranda Sykes and Rex Preston, The Young'uns, Whizz Jones, Tucker Zimmerman, Rory McLeod and the Familiar Strangers, 3 Daft Monkeys,

Mawkin - the list goes on and on........ Not only great entertainers but workshops, craft stalls, good food and great beer particularly Gem from the Bath brewery.

The Tuffeteer had a great workspace to run workshops thoughout the days and to sell a little piece of Bottom Heaven to the folk of Bristol - life is just simply incomplete without a tuffet! Check out more photos on the Tuffeteer's Facebook page.

The 4' Talan was very popular being destined as a rocking chair cushion, a natural fibre lightweight bed roll for camping and another for the perfectly natural eco-friendly mattress topper in a caravan - what more could you ask for than a luxurious night of sleep in deliciously sheepy comfort snuggled into a fine wool super tuffet!

Tuffet workshops at the Crediton Folk Festival

Crediton festival had such a wonderful line up of diverse performances this year. Amongst the acts on offer were the wonderful tones and songs of the traditional folk singer were heard from the amazing Mike Nicholson - once heard never forgotten. The hard-hitting lyrics from the band Seize the Day, a self-claimed radical English acoustic band with global roots. This band is not afraid to support action groups at any front-line protests, with their songs  being testament to their strong beliefs that celebrate, inspire and support the liberation of life.A totally different Blue grass flavour was to be found with the young up and coming group from Cornwall, Blue Horyzon featured in this video clip below:-

.

Another fine artiste that would make any festival complete is the very fine Nicola Clark who began life in a convent school - very strict and spiritual where she  sang in the choir. She went on to complete a BA in Fine Art, Painting in London. Nicola has also lived at an Ayurvedic (natural Indian medicine) Ashram in India for 7 years where she illustrated their local magazine and started to write devotional songs. Today she is a very entertaining and passionate singer and artiste that should not be missed!

If Morris dancing is for you then you wouldn't have been disappointed with sides such as, Raddon Hill North West Clog, Dr Turberville's Morris, Wreckers Morris, Hobos Morris, and a host of Plymothians - Plymouth Morris Men, Plymouth Maids, Plymouth Mummers to delight and amuse you.

Amidst this array of fine entertainment The Tuffeteer ran a craft workshop for the lucky few to learn the ancient skills of eco-friendly tuffet making and  for the nominal charge of £5.00 created their very own rather good wool tuffets to be used throughout the festival and beyond!!

Unusual Easter Gift - tuffets vs chocolate!

Take a really good look at the letters!! Fine sheepdog work!!
The spring is sprung; the fleece are ris'
I wonder where dem tuffets is?

Easter is nearly upon us and what could be better for that unusual eco- easter gift than a tuffet to delight the derriere whilst enjoying the warm rays of the sun? Chocolate is so over-rated, tasty yet gone in a flash! Whereas the effects of the chocolate can sit unwantedly on the hips for some time to come, with the eco-friendly wool cushion, lovingly known as the tuffet it is the hips that can linger in comfort whilst others look on longingly at your ever-lasting deliciously sheepy sustainable gift of luxury! Practical, comfortable, affordable and versatile - all this from the humble sheep!!

The Travelling Tuffeteer invites you to meet the team! Just wait for them................

Tents and tuffets- the perfect camping seat!

Reading Festival. readingfestivalcamping.co.uk

Festival season is around the corner and what better than an eco-friendly camping mat in the form of a wool tuffet. The beneficial properties come in to their own on the campsite - soft and warm in cool weather when the tuffet becomes a natural insulator,  yet in hot weather the tuffet conducts moisture away from the body to keep you cool and well, actually is there anything better than being cool at a festival?
Tuffets are lightweight, easily rolled (or squished), washable, water resistant and generally deliciously sheepy!

When there is no room for a camping chair or you have to track long distances from car to tent why carry a cumbersome chair or a bulky cushion when you can easily roll a tuffet and tie it to your rucksack or even wear it as a fashionable festival hairpiece!

So, the tuffet reaches new heights as the tuffet  toupée is born, maybe not the most realistic but definitely brings a certain something to the wearer!!

Meditation on a natural fibre tuffet?

fitnesscenterbkk.com

Modern day life leaves many of us feeling  stressed and over-worked, a short 10 - 15 minutes meditation can calm the mind and leave you feeling unstressed and more focused on the good things in life. The eco-friendly wool  tuffet may be used as the perfect lightweight natural fibre meditation mat allowing contact with the stress relieving  wool  fibres to provide true bottom heaven for the derriere!
It is important to be able to sit upright in comfort to avoid any undue physical pressure and to avoid added tension. Ideally it is better to have the back of the wool meditation mat slightly raised to enable the pelvis to be slightly tipped forward - this is simply achieved by rolling the edge of the mat to give the perfect position for you.
The combination of a single focus perhaps running water in the garden, the call of songbirds or the ringing tones of a Tibetan singing bowl with the natural properties of a wool tuffet is the perfect relaxation for a tired and stressed mind and body.
What better than moving from a tired state to an energised state with the help of a lightweight, rollable, sustainable and washable  eco-friendly tuffet? The natural  wool meditation tuffet could be the new meditation mat of today!!

Eco-packaging for Tuffets

Eco-packaging

The Tuffeteer supports the recycling of materials as absolutely essential for our environment. To demonstrate this belief the Tuffeteer has taken the example of an excellent eco-friendly cosmetic company, Green Spirit Bazaar, in that all posted items will come in recycled/re-used packaging! Cardboard boxes will be re-used - if you order a tuffet and think that you have a box of bananas then look again! All plastic wrapping will be experiencing a second life in an attempt to shun the corporate demands of today!!
So, to all my customers - please enjoy the tuffet from nature, packaged with the care of the environment in mind, and enjoy bottom heaven with a sense of pride!

Spring is hiding just below the surface just bursting withthe life of sleepy bulbs and blooms whilst waiting for the loving care of the gardener of the house. The gardener will spend many hours on bended knees which in time could become tired and sore but this could all be avoided with the loving caress of a kneeler tuffet. Yes it's true!  The popular wool tuffet will double as a kneeler to soothe the knees and protect from damp with all the beneficial properties that is to be found with this wonderful natural fibre.
The lightweight tuffet is so versatile that with a slight of the hand it can be instantly transformed into a wonderfully wooly eco-friendly cushion to add comfort to the garden seat on which you may sit and enjoy a well-deserved cup of tea!

Perfect......................ah lovely!
